Peter Fairweather has a practice specializing in strategic change processes for communities and organizations. His work draws upon more than twenty years of experience in strategic planning, economic development and community planning. He has conducted fiscal and economic impact analyses throughout the Northeast, including communities ranging from the towns of Warwick, Greenburgh, and Penn Yan in New York State, to the City of Weirton in West Virginia. Prior to entering the private sector in his own practice, Mr. Fairweather held faculty and administrative positions at the State University of New York at New Paltz, and also held posts with the Office of the Governor of Vermont, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and the New York State Legislature. He has also been a principal with The Saratoga Associates. He has over a decade of experience leading consulting teams on projects related to strategic planning, economic development and community revitalization. In addition, he has designed and delivered training programs for clients in New York State, Germany, Greece, and Sweden. He is co-author of an instructional software package on strategic planning, and has written various articles on community and rural economic development. Mr. Fairweather received his master's degree in public policy from the University of Michigan, where he was an Arthur Bromage Fellow. His bachelor's degree in political science was earned summa cum laude at SUNY New Paltz. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the International Economic Development Council, the American Planning Association, the New York State Economic Development Council and the Society for College and University Planning. He is chairman of the board of Friends of the Hudson Valley and serves on the board of the Hudson Valley Tourism Development Council. |
